O cinema coreano chegou para ficar. Parasita, Invasão Zumbi e A Empregada são exemplos de filmes que chamaram a atenção e vêm sido comentados, criticados e amados por muitos de nós. Mas como foi o começo do cinema coreano? Ele sempre foi tão grandioso como é agora?

As origens do cinema coreano

Até o fim da década de 1910, todos os filmes exibidos na Coreia eram estrangeiros, em sua maioria, produzidos no Ocidente. Entretanto, Park Seongpil, um produtor, diretor e distribuidor de filmes, comprou um dos cinemas da Coreia, Dasungsa, e patrocinou o lançamento do primeiro filme nacional. 

O primeiro filme lançado na península foi A Vingança Honrada (의리적구투), do diretor Kim Do-san, em 1919. Após isso, Park se tornou proprietário de, ainda, mais um cinema, Gwangmudae.

O cinema coreano durante a colonização japonesa 

Entretanto, o começo do cinema coreano foi tímido em lançamentos, muito devido à colonização japonesa na península. Entre os títulos da época, podemos citar Arirang (아리랑) de 1926 e Ao encontrar o amor (사랑을 찾아서) de 1928, mas existiram outros. Esses filmes foram produzidos e estrelados por Na Woon-gyu, um jovem, porém talentoso diretor e ator da época. Nenhum deles, entretanto, restou para que possamos vê-los atualmente.

Até então, os filmes eram em preto e branco e mudos. Sweet Dream (미몽) é um marco por ter sido o primeiro filme coreano com áudio que foi preservado e pode ser assistido até hoje.

Entretanto, tanto pela qualidade de áudio e produção, quanto pelo volume de lançamentos, podemos afirmar que o cinema coreano ainda era muito pequeno durante a colonização.

O cinema coreano após a libertação da Coreia

Assim que a Coreia foi libertada, o filme Viva, Freedom (자유만세), de Choi Ingyu, foi lançado. Trata-se da história de amor do protagonista, que foge do exército japonês por se envolver no Movimento de Independência, e acaba se apaixonando por uma enfermeira. 

Esse filme alcançou grande sucesso e se tornou um dos representantes sobre a Independência, mas há muita controvérsia quanto ao diretor por este ter colaborado com os japoneses durante a colonização.

Após isso, vale mencionar os filmes Hometown in My Heart (마음의 고향), lançado em 1949 por Yun Yong-gyu, por ser um filme considerado completo ambos em conteúdo e em entretenimento. Também não pode ser esquecido A prosecutor and a teacher (검사와 여선생), ainda da década de 40, por ser considerado emocionante e interessante. 

O cinema após a Guerra das Coreias

A guerra das Coreias (1950-1953) deixou uma grande marca no Sul e no Norte. Ambos tinham muito para recuperar após a guerra e durante ela, então, produzir filmes não era viável. Os poucos títulos que foram lançados na época se perderam, Daí, a interrupção que a indústria de cinema sofreu por alguns anos. 

Na Coreia do Sul, a década de 50 após o fim da guerra, então, foi fundamental como uma preparação para que o cinema coreano pudesse se reerguer e crescer realmente. Filmes com temáticas anticomunista, romances e comédias foram amplamente produzidos nesse meio tempo. Entre eles, podemos citar 피아골, 자유부인 e 운명의 손.

A Era de Ouro do cinema coreano

A partir dos anos 50, o governo coreano e contribuições estrangeiras patrocinaram o cinema do país para ajudá-lo a se reerguer, até os anos 70. Essa época é marcada por uma grande produção de filmes e é conhecida como a Era de Ouro do cinema da Coreia do Sul.

Entre os lançamentos daquela época, podemos citar A empregada (하녀) (originalmente de 1960 e que foi refilmado em 2010). É um filme de terror psicológico e conta a história de uma mulher contratada por uma família de classe alta para ser sua servente.

Nessa época, entretanto, a Coreia do Sul sofria com a ditadura Syngman Rhee e, como tal, com a censura de vários filmes e autores. Isso causou com que alguns fossem banidos da indústria e até mesmo presos.

O fim da Era de Ouro e a Crise de 1997

Com o fim da Era de Ouro, a censura continuou pela ditadura Park Chunghee. Após seu assassinato e o começo do governo Chun Doo-hwan, ela só se tornou mais pesada. Foi só em 1980, com a acelerada industrialização da Coreia do Sul, que a censura do governo começou a se tornar mais branda. 

Daí, quando o cinema coreano começava a retomar força, a crise do FMI (Fundo Monetário Internacional), em 1997, e conflitos militares com a Coreia do Norte criaram mais um obstáculo para o cinema coreano. Embora esses empecilhos tenham atrasado a produção da época, os diretores de cinema insistiram e um novo movimento foi iniciado. 

O Novo Cinema Coreano: A era dos blockbusters coreanos

Foi em 1999, com o lançamento de Shiri, por Kang Je-gyu, que a Coreia viu nascer a época de blockbusters. O país começou a produzir vários filmes que ganharam fama não só entre os coreanos, mas também internacionalmente. Entre eles, podemos citar My Sassy Girl (2001), A Irmandade da Guerra (2004) e, entre nossos queridinhos mais recentes, Invasão Zumbi (2016) e Parasita (2019). 

Essa é a era que marca os cinemas cheios não só na Coreia, mas também em países do Ocidente e, é claro, aqui no Brasil para ver filmes coreanos. E o Oscar e o Pomo d’Ouro recebidos por Parasita mostram que o Novo Cinema Coreano não só veio para ficar, mas também para fazer história.

    Miss Evans, a mother of two, warned such inconsistencies in clothing sizes could be ‘upsetting’ and damage women’s body confidence.River Island apologised and said its sizing
